Decorating with Pretty Poppies
February 27, 2013
Poppies brighten any room and are often found in ornamental
gardens. They were a funeral flower for ancient Egyptians
and used as a shrine flower by the Greeks. In our home they are
used as a glorious accent color.
You know, how I keep my floral arrangements year after year.
Well this little poppy arrangement is no exception. She is well
over ten years old. She has been packed, moved, dusted and
bathed. Here she is now proudly displayed on our family
room mantle!
Summer of 2012 we painted our living areas French Gray-
With my new clean and neutral colors, I was in need for some
accent colors. I wanted to incorporate green and tangerine into
my family room.
On a recent shopping trip to Kirklands I found this poppy
painting! You can imagine how pleased I was-the floral
arrangement and painting are perfect for my mantle decor.
Embracing the tangerine theme, I purchased these pillow covers
and brought continuity to our family room.
What colors are you choosing for Spring?

Decorating,
Beautiful, Jemma!
ReplyDeleteLately, I have been thinking about the color scheme of our family room, and feeling that it needs a spot of color. I like how you've added just a little bit of color, and with accent pieces that will be easy to swap out when you want a change.
Thank you for the inspiration!

Dear Jemma,
ReplyDeletesome news to share with you, my daughter had her baby on Sunday, the 24th February. The both are well. We are very happy. We will visit in April. Have a nice day... Regards :-) Dorothea
So pretty, the poppies are so vibrant and cheerful. I love your mantle!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely arrangement of poppies and a picture.
ReplyDeletePoppies are one of my favorite flowers. I'm always looking for new poppy plants for my yard. I also collect different items with poppies on them.

Very pretty! Love how your mantel looks!!
ReplyDeleteJemma, I am a lover of Poppies. Both indoors and out. I have a poppy canvas over my bed and a few other poppy items in there also. In May (when my poppies are blooming outdoors) I decorate my kitchen with all of my poppy dishes. They are just so bright and cheery. Love, love your new painting and it is gorgeous against your wall color. The new pillows are a fun pop also. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
