Valentine Cookies

February 13, 2013

My cakes and cupcakes are filled with delicious strawberry filling,

however I am still in need of just a bit more... I am not in the mood

for an elaborate frosting.  What to do?   Whip up some sugar

cookie dough! I have a great recipe which I used for our

Christmas Sugar Cookies.

This creamy vanilla frosting is Vanilla Bark- it is wonderful for

many things-coating strawberries, graham crackers, dipping

pretzel sticks- today  I am using it for frosting cookies!

I am going to melt 1/2 package of vanilla bark in microwave at 50

% power  at 1 minute intervals. Stir after each minute. After 2

minutes mine was completely melted and ready for dipping my

cookies. If you'd like to change the flavor of the bark add your

favorite extract-

Melted bark is so creamy and smooth-it makes decorating cookies

a breeze. Bark has a tendency to harden quickly, if this happens

add 1 teaspoon cooking oil to thin.

This particular sugar cookie recipe frosted with vanilla bark tastes

very similar to Mothers Circus Animal Cookies.

Tip:  When you are finished with your bowl of bark- immediately

rinse with hot water for easier clean up.

After stirring vanilla bark, dip sugar cookies into bark, place them

on a wire rack over a cookies sheet larger than rack and  decorate.

This method of decorating makes for a simple clean up!

Weren't these easy- no fuss, a whole lot of color and flavor!
