Gardening Tales
Patio Passion
June 04, 2013
We are outdoor people, my husband and I live to be outside.
Our days begin with a marvelous cup of steamy coffee-poured
into our favorite mugs. The door opens to our Passion,
the outdoors. We are greeted by early morning sun beams,
birds singing and thankful for the Blessings of the day.
Our day begins right here...
These are some of our most worn and treasured outdoor pieces.
Don't you just love it when your belongings can tell a story?
When love, time and energy has been poured into giving them
newness.
But yet preserving them in an old way...
This great outdoor Art was created by my husband. He used
remnants of bead board and cedar from some of his other projects.
I found some leftover trim paint and stain-barely dipping the tip of
the paintbrush into the paint and going over the beadboard lightly
and briskly I achieved an aged and weathered look. I topped it off
with stain. For the frame I dipped a rag into the stain and rubbed it
all over. My friend Laura, gave me the Texas Iron.
I am so thrilled that old is the new-new!
This 25 year old wrought iron table is still looking good-a little
mellow yellow spray paint, and new cushions for the chairs.
So much elbow grease has been put into all of these outdoor
pieces. Sanding, painting, scrubbing and now we get to sit
back and enjoy.

ReplyDeleteThe greatest joy from projects comes from the memories of doing them with loved ones. Your projects were lovingly done by you and your husband....how wonderful!

I envy such a comfy looking patio seating area. Because we have harsh winters, storage is a big issue for me and the furniture is usually lightweight and/or foldable. I have repurposed pieces in the past and given them a fresh coat of paint.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a bit of paint can do to freshen a piece. Your iron furniture looks so nice and summery! I have a simple old bench of my grandmother's that I keep thinking about painting (right now it's "shabby chic" aka old worn paint!). I'd better do it this summer otherwise I don't believe it will last long in the outdoors. Wendy
ReplyDeleteWhat an inviting patio area...I will be right over!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so comfortable and attractive on your patio. Enjoy your relaxing time. No such projects here, just some staining on the shed's trim and some old wooden planter boxes.
ReplyDeleteYour backyard is so pretty and relaxing!!! My hubby and I love to spend most of our time outdoors as well. So relaxing!!~~Angela
ReplyDeleteLove your porch! It's so inviting!!
ReplyDeleteYou've done such an amazing job!!
Have a blessed and wonderful day!!
Hi, Jemma! I love having coffee on the porch first thing in the morning, too. Just wish my night owl spouse could be there with me. Oh, well, sometimes solitude is better, because I get to be alone with God and start my day with Him. ;-) Your patio and yard are beautiful - love the pool! No wonder you two like the outdoors. Thanks for sharing a little of your lives.

Hi Jemma, I love your patio and the setting. We live in Texas, too! It's nice to meet you and thank you for your visit.
ReplyDeleteYour patio is to drool for. Warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteLove your chevron pillows.
Sweden is still cold and rainy, so my open veranda/porch is in hibernation again.
But when you scroll on my older posts, you can find my blooming porch (minus the pool) LoL*
Happy Tuesday.
