DIY Mid-Summer Wreath Makeover
August 12, 2013
So, seriously is Summer passing as quickly for you as it is for me?
Seems as though June was just here and I was busily preparing for
the 4th of July.
I enjoy the traditions of this holiday, the potato salad, cookouts and
such and I always make a 4th of July for our front door and this
year was no exception, but this Holiday is long gone and it is time
to do a wreath makeover.
Well, Red, White and Blue are wonderful for the 4th, but not so
much for the upcoming months.
So let me share with you how I took this Patriotic Wreath and
transformed it into a Mid-Summer Wreath, that will easily
transition you into Fall too.
As cute as this was, it had to be taken apart.
Which I did, and only left the white deco mesh.
Oh, I was really so close to cutting off all of the deco mesh too,
but then it occurred to me, the fuller, the better. I don't know why
I suddenly had this epiphany, I should have know this all along.
So, with snips here and there the old was gone and the new was in.
Just in time for welcoming Fall and a little cooler weather.(Please
cool weather come our way!)
You know the routine, a trip to wonderful, magnificent, colorful
Hobby Lobby. Burlap, wire edges with an ever so subtle amount of
glitz woven through. Off white mums, and stripe ribbon for the
bow and I was in business!
I am super pleased with this bow. Bows aren't my true "thing," so
naturally I was a bit of a skeptic. After cutting beige and white
ribbon into 24 inch lengths, folding, wiring and then hot gluing, my
bow was ready to place on the wreath.
As usual I have moved my wreath from one spot to the other. I
really like the mix of grey on the antique secretary desk with the
browns and creams on the wreath. However, I also like the wreath
on the black front door with the lead glass.
My Rooster is years and years old and is from an outlet mall, while
the cute little pewter clock is a gift from my oldest daughter. These
treasures are true keepsakes. I found the little wire basket
at an antique store- not really certain if it is an antique, but for
$5.00, I felt as though I wasn't breaking the bank.
Love the wreath redo Jemma! I just picked up some florals to to redo my wreath for Fall as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat talent you have for putting these together and patience too! Love the little vignette you created with your treasures Jemma. xo

Your wreath is so pretty Emma and perfect as we begin to transition into another season. It's still warm here but the days are beginning to get shorter and I think the temperature will begin to cool at night.
