Recent Happenings On Sunnydell Flower Farm

January 26, 2021

Friends, today I am sending you a big thank you and a virtual bouquet for the uplifting words of encouragement and enthusiasm on my most recent post.

Sunflowers!

While our Flower Farm venture has been a long time in coming and often times it seems to me that we have gone about this all backwards. I am reminded that we are truly only limited by our mindset. Without a doubt a negative mindset gets us nowhere. Today I am embracing positivity!

Our Mission Statement for Sunnydell Flower Farms is to Bee in Nature.

Sunnydell Farms truly is founded in the gentle love of community, with the hope to ignite and instill a passion for Nature through education, encouragement and empowerment that will last throughout the decades of life.

A refuge from the world, where honey bees buzz, butterflies flitter and peace remains among all.

Sunnydell is a 100 year old Farm and with that legacy one must pay respect to the land and treat it accordingly.
From my Grandparents, to my Parents to me.
Someday I hope that there will be grandchild that I can pass the Farming baton on too.

Keeping in mind that our youth is our future, our second goal is to collaborate with the local 4-H  chapter, schools and FFA in providing hands on training from seed to harvest.

Sunnydell will be community minded in everyway possible from hosting you-pick, workshops, and employing the community.

There has to be a method to our madness for the Flower Farm to produce quality plants. Although certainly I would like nothing better than to dive right in, we must begin at the beginning and that is collecting a soil sample.

But who is to say that I won't be scattering seeds for my own enjoyment, because you know I will and you would too!

On a final note, we are saying goodbye to our Florida cottage today, as brief as it was, we embraced the beauty of the Salt Life, but our true heart belongs to the soil.

We sold our home about 4 weeks ago to a lovely family of six from Washington D.C., they are thrilled to be moving to here.

Dave is heading on to Madison Mississippi. I will be staying here for the academic semester to hang out with the grands while Rebecca continues on with Nursing School.

    1. Good Morning Lovely Friend!
Well, what a journey this life is! We seem to have two options and I know for a fact that you agree. We can stay on the train and live life with gratitude and all the possibilities that are present or we stay in the gloom of a corner! Thank you for the love and support. Let's chat this coming week!

    1. Thank you so much Liz! Yes we are moving to five acres in Clinton Mississippi and building our Country Farmhouse. I get my Flower Farm and Dave gets to move home. This move will put us between our Florida Kids and Texas Kids. An easy drive 6 hours either way. Our Tahoe kids will give us our Western fix!

  4. This is so exciting and I love your focus, pulling in 4H is genius. Both of our kiddos did 4H when we lived in Colorado and the program was always a favorite. Was a great resource for homeschooling and offered a neat mix of kids. You are way ahead of me when it comes to planning, I just finished that book I was telling you about and I'm still undecided about what I will be doing. The designer in me says grow for creating but I just don't know. Looking forward to the season of summer when I hope Robert and I can finally rescue a good 10 acres further east to call home. Chat later and looking forward to your new site.
    Hugs,
    Carole

    1. Growing up in Idaho I was in 4-H too and I sure do have fond memories.
I certainly understand how incorporating 4-H into a homeschooling curriculum would be a great educational tool.

Sounds as though we are on a similiar quest my friend. Looking forward to your book and your journey through the Good Earth as well.
      Hugs,
      Jemma

  12. So happy for you, Jemma. We really always know deep in our hearts where we belong, and you are just following your heart, so good for you. I have felt the same way about the mountains. City life is not for me, and the mountains were calling my name, so hopefully this will be my last move. I wish you well in this adventure, and it is something that you will relate to, as you grew up tending the dirt and soil and those beautiful flowers. I absolutely love your words....... I am reminded that we are truly only limited by our mindset. Without a doubt a negative mindset gets us nowhere. Today I am embracing positivity! That is so true, and my brother said similar words to me when I moved to the mountains. Your house plans look wonderful. May God be with you throughout this sweet journey, dear Jemma.
