Our Southern Style Mississippi Home
Hello friends and thanks for the well wishes on this next segment of life! Over the next few months I'll be sharing Summer recipes (with a Southern spin) and Homemaking tips as our journey in the South continues.
Sadie and I loaded up our Florida lives and arrived in Mississippi last Thursday around 4:00 p.m. Sadie and I were both happy to see the hubby and he was happy to see us too. Sadie jumped out of the vehicle and I crawled out ( I was stiff from 6 + hours of driving😂) Seriously though, at this stage of life I am just not going to take myself or life too serious. I am embracing change, it keeps me on my toes. I am here and by golly I am going to make the most of it, I really just don't have the time to get old.
I am just going to share a few photos today. We really do love our new Southern Style home and I love the Kitchen most of all. Perhaps Dave does too, because he has been waiting for some cooking and baking from this gal. He has eaten a heap of pot pies while I was in Florida. He has been overseeing the building of our home here in Mississippi. I am going to deliver too-I have a hankering to do some cooking and baking and it's all going to start with a Coconut Cake!
As we all pretty much know styles come and go. So I am pretty tickled that brushed gold and champagne gold are back in style, while gold is not for everyone it is for me and I am happy to see it has returned. I love gold paired with white and gray paint too. You know that old saying- if you wait long enough everything comes back in style. So it is with Gold. One could say we are ushering in a New Golden Age of Home Décor!
These are heart of pine floors. I am loving them, but I know they are a softer wood than Oak so I am just gonna have to deal with scratches and dents. But hopefully there won't be any for a few weeks!😏
Your home is beautiful can't wait to see all your touches in it when you move in. Very excited for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Terrie. Truthfully I sort of want to leave it pristine, but I know that once our furniture arrives tomorrow I will be ready to get going!
DeleteDearest Jemma, what a PERFECT home! Painted white brick with a French touch, a great kitchen and land for your flower fancy. My dear you are blessed!!
ReplyDeleteHello Darling Anita! I love how you described my flower passion "fancy!" I couldn't agree more I will embrace all the growing, making and baking that my heart desires.
DeleteThank you!
I bet your man was glad to see his women! Especially some home cooked food! LOL! Glad you and Sadie made it safely. Can't wait to see your new home and what you are up too. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteHi you sweet soul! Yes, my man is plum tired of those frozen meals....I may never make it out of kitchen to get in my garden!
DeleteThanks so much,
Jemma
It looks terrific, jemma, and I'm so glad you get to finally go home. I think you'll just love it!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeanie,
DeleteYes, the hubby and I have circled all around the country for these past few years. Now we are back in the South and that seems to be a mighty good fit for us both!
Thank you!
Jenna,
ReplyDeleteThose lights in your kitchen, stunning!! I
I have to say the good that's available now is more my style than before. That didn't clean well and hold up to every day use. The new looks like it will.
Your floors are going to look beautiful and lived in and I love that.
Enjoy this next chapter.
Hello Sweet Friend,
DeleteI totally agree with you! I have been waiting for this style all of my life. I don't really like a fussy look so this is right up our alley.
Thank for the reassurance on the heart of pine floors. I've worried about them-but my daughter said the same thing as you. That the heart of pine floors will be well worn and have character and that is certainly a good thing!
What a lovely home! I can't wait to see more pictures as you settle in.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you Miss Merry! I appreciate the well wishes and your visit!
DeleteJemma, love your new home in Mississippi. Your kitchen is so charming, and I really
ReplyDeletelike the flooring in the laundry room. Not sure if you know this, but I moved up to the
mountains, and loving it. I've always wanted a front porch, and I have a spacious one,
and smiled when I saw yours. There's so much you can do with that. Now all I need is a white rocking chair to sit out there haha. Your pine floors are very nice, and I'm familiar with pine up here, as they grace my dining room walls. Enjoy and embrace your new home, Jemma, and I wish you well settling in. Your home really is charming
in every way.

Sheri, I did know that you moved to the mountains and I think of you often! Love those California Mountains. I know you are content and happy there. Pine is a lovely wood and I embracing it's warmth. Thank you for the well-wishes my friend!
DeleteLove your new home. You will have everything done in no time. I am glad you arrived before the summer heat begins.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all your decorating in your new home.
Happy Baking and Gardening.
Thank you Bonnie. It certainly is a good time to relocate. We were fortunate to have cool temps and overcast skies for the official move in date. Today we are taking a Break from unpacking and I'll be baking a coconut cake and planting a few sunflower seeds!
DeleteHappy to hear from you Jemma! Your new home looks very welcoming, and I look forward to seeing more as you make it your own!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Rita,
