Hello Dear Reader,
Happy fourth of July weekend and welcome to my Patriotic Homemaking post.
Celebrating the 4th of July has always been a pretty big deal in our home and I am keeping the tradition going.
No matter what I read, watch or hear I have made up my mind that I am not giving up on America or allow my love of my country to slip away.
My parents, their parents and several family members have sacrificed way too much for me to permit negativity to infiltrate my mindset.
I am a true blue and loyal American to the core of my being!
This weekend I am wearing my patriotism on my sleeve with a patriotic tribute to the land I love by decorating my white farmhouse tiered tray with Americana style décor.
In fact, my daughter Amanda sent me a heartwarming photo of our grandson Wyatt holding the American Flag with the text message below:
(Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see heartwarming photo of what America means to our youth-the photo says it all.)
"America will be what the next generation becomes. As parents, grandparents and a nation we have a tremendous responsibility."
Freedom
"Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in their bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same." Ronald Regan
"For to be free is not merely to cast off ones chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedoms of others."
Nelson Mandela
"A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with freedom."
Bob Dylan
God Bless The USA
"What we need are critical lovers of America. Patriots who express their faith in their country by working to improve it."
Hubert Humphrey
"This freedom which we enjoy did not originate with the founding fathers. This great boon of freedom and respect for the dignity of man came as a gift from the creator."
Ezra Taft Benson
"We are blessed with the opportunity to stand for something-for liberty and freedom and fairness. And these things are worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to."
Ronald Regan
Proud To Be An American
"Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially are descended from immigrants and revolutionists."
Franklin D. Roosevelt.
"There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America."
Bill Clinton
"How important is it for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!"
Maya Angelou

Every Heart Beats True For the Red, White and Blue!
You're a grand old flag
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You're the emblem of
The land I love
The home of the free and brave
Every heart beats true
'Neath the red, white and blue
Where there's never a boast or brag
Should old acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
Happy 4th of July!
XOXO
Jemma
Beautiful Jemma I truly enjoyed this post today. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy 4th to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to visit and the 4th of July wishes! So very kind of you.
DeleteGood morning wonderful soul sistah! I loved reading all of the quotes that you shared here as well as your prose that brings a cohesive "bigger picture" of what freedom in this country should mean. It's what we all make of it, each generation, to work hard on a daily basis to establish trust amongst all members of this country. Thank you for the passionate love you have for family, friends and country - your zeal is full of that "sizzle" that everyone should have to practice the love of God in spirit and in truth. Enjoy your day with all those whom you love my sistah!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Dearest Anita!
DeleteWhat joyfulness and appreciation you bring to the day and to our country The passion and loyalty that you and I share for our devotion to our beautiful America is quite contagious.
We are Americans and there is no other place I'd rather be!
Jemma - this is absolutely beautiful. love this line, "America will be what the next generation becomes. As parents, grandparents and a nation we have a tremendous responsibility." I really needed this thank you! -Carole
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Dear Friend, Thank you for your visit today. You made my morning! Happy 4th of July weekend and big hugs too. ~Jemma
DeleteDear Jemma, this is such a beautiful post! Your decor is just lovely, and I really enjoyed seeing the pictures of your grandsons with the flags. I love the Ronald Reagan quotes and long for the days when he was president. I won't go into any negativity here, out of respect for you, my friend. But, I am surely burdened in my spirit over many things. An old minister who used to come visit our home used to say, "If you want to see an example, be an example." We just have to BE the positive change we long to see in this world. I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July, and may God's continual blessings rest upon you and your family.
ReplyDeleteYour red, white, and blue tiered tray is festive and patriotic, Jemma. So many creative things to look at. I like the bandana, the stars, and the bell, and those delightful fireworks. 4th of July was always a fun tradition in our home as well, when the kids were little, and when I was young with all the block parties we had in the neighborhood. The photos of your grandsons are so cute. I smiled at Bob Dylan's quote, as I used to listen to his music all the time. And the quote from Ezra Taft Benson is special. I hope you had a great 4th of July, dear Jemma. It's wonderful how you appreciate your country so much.

Thanks, Jemma for gathering these wonderful patriotic quotes. I am thankful for my country. It has many problems but it is still the best country in the world. I was touched by a movie we watched recently called Rise. It was about a family from Africa immigrating to Greece and all their struggles seeking citizenship. It made me very aware of how much we take for granted.
