When it comes to decorating for Valentine's Day there is just absolutely no way to go wrong.

As for me I like to keep it sweet, simple and a bit economical.

Stock up on Tapers.

I had mentioned in my previous Valentine post on the benefit of adding candles to all of our tablescapes.

A little glow goes along way.

I found these tapers and pillars at Walmart.

Sometimes the candle selection at Walmart isn't great, so if I find some candles that I think will serve a purpose for various occassions I stock up on them, the price is just so right.

Handmade

Since I am a sentimental sort of gal, I like to incorporate handmade, gifts from the children and special  keepsakes into most of my styling projects.
Somehow just buying something in a hurry to throw together for my home sytling doesn't do much for me.
In the above photo I am using one of my handmade dried strawflower wreaths  as a candle ring.
You'll also notice the French Inspired dried flower wreath on my Grandmother's hutch.

Fancy and Special

I always think a few candies or chocolates scattered here and there add a fancy and special touch.
And seriously who doesn't like a tad bit of candy.
If the candy is wrapped it can even me taken home for a treat to have later on.

Cake Time-Cookie Time

A simple slice of white or yellow cake with simple white frosting topped with a few confetti sprinkles and a little chocolate is perfect for a ladies gathering.
I remember my dear Mother being a hostess with the mostess.
When she hosted quilting bees for her lady friends her go to refreshment was frosted homemade sugar cookies, with a dollop of seven minute frosting on top.
